The RODE Stereo VideoMic Pro Rycote (SVMPR)
is a high-quality, compact stereo on-camera microphone ideal for capturing immersive ambient audio, music, and general sound for video production. It features an integrated Rycote Lyre shock mount for superior isolation from handling noise.
Acoustic Principle: Pressure Gradient, with a matched pair of 1/2" condenser capsules in an X/Y stereo configuration for natural depth and a wide stereo image.
Integrated Rycote Lyre Shock Mount: Made from hard-wearing thermoplastic, this suspension system provides excellent isolation from mechanical noise and vibrations and will not sag, snap, or wear out over time like traditional elastic bands.
Controls: Features a three-position level control (-10dB, 0dB, +20dB) to adapt to various sound sources, and a two-step high-pass filter (flat, 75Hz) to minimize low-frequency noise from traffic or air conditioning. The +20dB boost is designed to provide a cleaner signal to cameras with low-quality preamps.
Connectivity: Connects to cameras via an integrated Kevlar-reinforced 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo mini-jack output cable.
Power: Powered by a single 9V battery, offering over 100 hours of use with an alkaline battery.
Build: Features a lightweight and compact form factor with a billet metal camera shoe mount that also has a 3/8" thread for easy boompole mounting.
Frequency Range: 40Hz to 20kHz.
Audio Quality: Users consistently praise the microphone for its crisp, high-quality stereo audio that captures sound from a good distance and provides excellent stereo separation for ambient sounds.
Users find it very easy to set up and use with DSLR cameras and camcorders, a significant improvement over built-in microphones.
The Rycote Lyre mount is a noted improvement over older elastic systems, providing durability and effective noise reduction.
According to experts and users, the RODE Stereo VideoMic Pro Rycote excels at recording live music, sporting events, and atmospheric ambiance.
